Paul Patterson

Paul Patterson is a native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law.  Paul has handled litigation throughout the State of Alabama and the United States. While in law school, the University of Alabama School of Law and the American College of Trial Lawyers recognized Paul as the top trial advocacy student by awarding him the highly coveted Stancil R. Starnes scholarship. Paul was also awarded the prestigious George P. Taylor Top Trial Advocacy award in 1997 and 1998. The American Judicature Society named Paul the top law student in trial advocacy for the University of Alabama School of Law. Lastly, Paul was bestowed one of the top academic awards from the University of Alabama School of Law by awarding him the CALI in future interests.

Paul's outstanding skills in advocacy and communication resulted in him being named to the University of Alabama Trial Advocacy Team.  Paul was selected as the lead advocate out of a field of approximately 300 law students.  While competing as lead lawyer on Alabama's trial team, Paul and his team won the Southeastern Regional Championship in New Orleans, Louisiana by defeating the University of Florida School of Law. The team went on to capture wins in Los Angeles, California, Washington D.C., Boston, Massachusetts, and Savannah, Georgia.

Paul coupled his trial skills and his academic prowess and quickly became one of Alabama's top lawyers. State and federal judges throughout Alabama and the United States have recognized Paul's trial skills. One Alabama Judge remarked:

"I've been on the bench for many years and can unequivocally say Paul Patterson is one of the best trial lawyers in Alabama.

Paul is active in the Tuscaloosa community and has served on numerous non-profit boards. He also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Alabama. In 2006, the University of Alabama School of Law commemorated the naming of the University of Alabama Legal Clinic in honor of Paul Patterson and Mike Comer. In 2008, the Alabama State Trooper Association awarded Paul Patterson and Mike Comer the ASTA Presidential Award for their unwavering support of the Alabama State Trooper Association. In September of 2010, Paul Patterson was named a lifetime member of the University of Alabama College of Education Board of Advisors.

Paul is quick to tell anyone that he is married to the love of his life, Katie Lynn of Winfield, Alabama, and they have three children. When he is away from the demands of the courtroom, Paul enjoys spending time with his wife and children, and being an active member of Circlewood Baptist Church.
